I am wondering if setting up this blog with no real knowledge of html is foolish. But perhaps it is because I'm too ambitious. I could just write and post I guess but that's not enough - I want some sort of connection with my readers (if there are any eventually!) even if it's negative. And I would like to end up with some images etc. Small steps and I will probably learn as I go along from the help section. Undeterred I have tried something new today. I have added a link!
It's to OpenDemocracy.net which is my favourite site for balanced news and debate.

April 15th

Exciting stuff this. Have just added a comments facility to this site. Now all I have to do is think of something interesting enough to write that people might want to comment on....

I've been reading other people's blogs for a while now - such a varied world at my fingertips. And a respite from drearier work moments it has to be said. I like the rants - makes me feel like I'm not the only one who thinks that if I (insert your own rant here) knew then (insert your politician) must have known as well... I like the touch of the bizarre but I wish I'd kept a record of all the URLs now like the subservient chicken which kept me amused for, well, minutes, but they were side-splittingly funny ones I have to say. I also have a horrible fascination for the emotional diary sites that make me feel a bit like a voyeur and kind of relieved that I'm not at a stage in my life where I would want to do that (but who knows?!!)

I have no idea what flavour this blog will turn out to be. I suspect there are many others that will always be wittier and cleverer. On the other hand I prefer the unpredictable and unexpected and if I'd waited until I had an idea that I thought was sufficiently... sufficiently.... sufficiently what?? Well I'd never get started would I?

No promises then, no guarantees of top quality blogging but a willingness to see what happens when my mind meets a new space.

I have a strange urge to write about mountains - maybe tomorrow
